We are delighted to invite you to a special performance by the Čiurlionis Quartet, joined by soprano Monta Martinsone and live electronics. The program features works by Franz Schubert, Lili Boulanger, and others, alongside treasures of Lithuanian music — including the visionary composer and painter Mikalojus Čiurlionis.
Born 150 years ago, Čiurlionis was not only Lithuania’s first modern composer but also a pioneering painter, synesthete, and cultural icon. His extraordinary legacy of more than 400 musical compositions and 300 paintings continues to inspire audiences worldwide. His art bridged music and colour, sound and vision — and this concert pays tribute to that creative spirit.
Founded in 1968, the Čiurlionis Quartet has a reputation of being an inventive and technically advanced collective. In 1990, the ensemble was among the first to receive the prestigious Lithuanian National Arts and Culture Prize - the highest award in Lithuania. In 2004, the Quartet captured second prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Schweinfurt, Germany.
